Tobi Update

The small cub rescued on January 31 in Tobiano BC is holding her/his own so far. After prolonged lack of feed, feeding has to start very slowly to prevent re-feeding syndrome. We therefore are waiting to sedate him/her until he/she is more stable. So far all looks well and he/she has a good appetite.

Moon & Star Go Fishing!

We are fortunate to get some live fish from a local hatchery so our cubs can practice this important skill. Here our grizzlies Moon & Star have their first try at fishing!

Merry Christmas to you and those dear to you! We wish you peaceful times with those you care for and a chance to create more memories!

This little one arrived at NLWS on Christmas Eve and now thank to all that support us in various ways, now has a warm straw-bed and a full tummy!

Latest Arrivals

Our latest arrival:

This little one got lucky being unlucky. Instead of being run over by a vehicle he got caught underneath and tumbled the length of a car and trailer on pavement. Stunned, disoriented and badly bruised he was unable to follow his mom and sibling. Kind people waited with him for the Conservation Officer, who in turn waited for mom to return, but to no avail. Now he will be our guest until next spring. We are grateful he suffered no serious injuries, though he was hurting badly. Luckily we could assist with pain medicine to ease his suffering.

Loki & Brann Update

What is sweeter than a bear cub? Two of course!!! Loki and Brann are enjoying outdoor time now!

They are very mobile and climb really well.

Two Tiny Bear Cubs

An unfortunate motor vehicle accident left two tiny bear cubs orphaned high up in a tree in Cecil Lake BC. Local residents and Northern Lights Wildlife Shelter got together and safely brought the cubs down from the tree.

The cubs will be cared for until a year old and set free ''still wild'' where they were once rescued from.

The Triplets

The first cubs of 2019 arrived at NLWS.
The triplets came from the Vanderhoof area through the CO service. As the death of the sow is under investigation we were not told any details. The cubs are settling in well and are dinking their milk and chowing down on fruit smoothies.
Please consider a donation to help with their care! Thank you!
