# Northern Lights Wildlife Society > Northern Lights Wildlife Society (NLWS) is a rewilding facility founded in 1990 in British Columbia, Canada. We rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured, orphaned, and young wildlife, with a specialization in black bears, grizzly bears, and moose, while promoting public education on coexistence and supporting scientific research. Northern Lights Wildlife Society provides a safe haven for BC mammals and select birds of prey. Our goal is to give wildlife a second chance through expert care, medical treatment, rehabilitation, and preparation for successful release back into the wild. NLWS relies on donations, volunteers, memberships, community support, and responsible public awareness to continue this work. ## Mission & About * [About Us](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/about-us): Our history, founders, wildlife care philosophy, and rewilding work since 1990. * [Mission Statement](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/mission-statement): Core values, purpose, and long-term goals. * [What is Re-wilding?](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/what-is-re-wilding): Explanation of the rehabilitation, preparation, and release process. * [Bear the Responsibility](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/bear-the-responsibility): Coexistence education focused on reducing human impact on wildlife. ## The Animals & Releases * [The Animals](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/the-animals): Current residents, species information, and animal profiles. * [NLWS Animal Profiles](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/nlws-animal-profiles): Individual animal stories, rescue histories, and rehabilitation journeys. * [Release Season](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/): Current release season information, release timeline, and recorded release statistics, including 767+ black bears and 35+ grizzlies released. ## Get Involved * [Volunteer](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/volunteering): Full-time animal care, onsite support, transport, fundraising, and design volunteer opportunities. * [Get Involved](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/get-involved): Ways to support NLWS through donations, volunteering, events, memberships, and community involvement. * [Events](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/events): Open houses, fundraisers, educational activities, and community events. ## Support Us * [Donate](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/donate): One-time, monthly, legacy, securities, e-transfer, cheque, and online donation options that support wildlife care. * [Fundraising](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/fundraising): Partnerships, car donations, legacy gifts, securities, and other fundraising opportunities. * [Memberships](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/wildlife-membership-nlws-canada): Individual, family, senior, and lifetime membership options that help support NLWS’s charitable work. ## Education, Blog & Media * [NLWS Blog](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/nlws-blog): Wildlife stories, rescue updates, animal health insights, education, and release news. * [Media Inquiries](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/media-inquiries): For press, interview requests, media coverage, footage enquiries, and responsible use of NLWS media assets. ## Optional * [Grizzly Enclosure](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/grizzly-enclosure): Facility details related to grizzly bear rehabilitation and care. * [Annual Report](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/annual-report): Transparency, impact data, annual results, and organizational reporting. * [Who Built Our Website](https://www.wildlifeshelter.com/who-built-our-website-branding-department): Website credit to Branding Department.
